In a game valid for the third round of the Guanabara Under-20 Cup, Flamengo was defeated by Fluminense 2-0 on Saturday morning (12), at the Gávea stadium. In the next round, Rubro-Negro faces Portuguesa-RJ away from home.
O JOGO
Flamengo started the match strongly, trying to pressure the Tricolor's ball out of their own half. In the first 15 minutes, the two teams studied each other closely and created few scoring chances. In the 21st minute, Flamengo threatened down the left flank with André, who shot straight at the defense.
Throughout the first half, Rubro-Negro kept possession of the ball for longer and controlled the action. In the 37th minute, Yuri headed the ball to Richard, who shot over the bar. Despite Rubro-Negro's overwhelming dominance, the first half ended even: 0-0.
Early in the second half, Mengão created a dangerous situation. In the 3rd minute, Guilherme Bala came down the left, cut inside, and took a shot that the goalkeeper saved. In the 9th minute, on a quick counterattack, Fluminense opened the scoring with Wallace, who crossed the ball from the edge of the box: 1-0.
In the 23rd minute, after a corner kick, André rose to the second floor and headed the ball, but the goalkeeper saved it. In the 32nd minute, Fluminense created a threat. Samuel received the ball in the box and shot. The ball went just wide of Victor Hugo's right post. Fla tried to attack but was met by the Tricolor's strong defense, which stopped the game with fouls. The red-and-black team fought until the end to equalize the score, but could not break through Fluminense's defense, which still scored the second in the 47th minute through Gabriel: 2-0.
