The game
The match began with both teams battling for possession. In the 9th minute, the red-and-black defense faltered, and Carlos Henrique opened the scoring for Nova Iguaçu at Gávea: 1-0. After the goal, the Garotos do Ninho pressed forward in search of an equalizer, but struggled to penetrate the opposing defense.

In the 26th minute, Gusttavo took a low free kick into the corner, but the goalkeeper jumped to make the save. Flamengo created a threat in the 35th minute. Rodriguinho, from the left, crossed into the box for Guilherme to volley. The ball went just wide of the post.
