Opening the knockout stage of the U-17 Carioca Championship, Flamengo lost 2-0 to Nova Iguaçu at Nova Iguaçu's training center in the first leg of the quarterfinals. Having performed better, Flamengo will qualify if they win by two goals in the second leg.

The game
The first half was fiercely contested, with few opportunities for either team. Flamengo struggled to penetrate the opposing defense and score. In the 29th minute, from a set piece on the left flank, Gabriel capitalized on the rebound and opened the scoring for Nova Iguaçu: 1-0.

The second half followed the tone of the first, with the game very tight between the two teams and few chances created. Flamengo came close to opening the scoring twice with a shot from outside the box saved by the goalkeeper and a free kick that hit the post, but it was Nova Iguaçu who scored the second goal. After a counterattack triggered by a ground ball that hit the referee, the opposing team stole the ball and closed the scoring late in the second half, giving the match its final score.
