The game
Flamengo started the game with a strong tempo, pinning Vasco back in their own half and looking for shots. Flamengo held off the red-and-black attacks and managed to counterattack in the 11th minute. Dyogo Alves made a fine save on a shot from outside the box, but Vasco opened the scoring from a corner kick. With the advantage, Flamengo controlled the game, closing down the midfield and overpowering the red-and-black players. In the 38th minute, Dyogo once again saved a good chance for Vasco, but on the rebound, Vasco extended their lead with a shot from outside the box. Before halftime, Petterson was sent off.
In the second half, Vasco capitalized on their numerical superiority and controlled the game, building from the back and forcing few chances. Flamengo pushed for the game but struggled against Vasco's control in midfield. Coach Mario Jorge made changes to the team, bringing on Rayan for Igor Jesus. In the 26th minute, Werton broke free on the right and crossed, but Vasco's defense cleared it for a corner. The number 8 was eventually replaced late on by Pedrinho. Adriel came on for Caio Garcia. The game ended without any further changes to the score.
