Flamengo loses to Vasco in the first leg of the second phase of the Under-17 Brazil Cup

On the afternoon of this Wednesday (26), Flamengo was beaten by Vasco by 1 to 0, in São Januário, in the first leg of the second phase of the Copa do Brasil Sub-17. Now, the Garotos do Ninho need to win next Wednesday (3), in Gávea, to continue in the competition. 


The game


The Ninho Boys didn't feel the pressure from the start of the match and quickly went on the attack. In the 2nd minute, after a mistake by the Cruz-Maltino goalkeeper, Lorran had a good opportunity to open the scoring, but shot wide. In the 18th minute, Menegatti received the ball deep and shot dangerously. Flamengo was creating the better opportunities.

The rest of the first half was a fiercely contested affair, with both teams fighting for every inch of grass but failing to create any real scoring chances. The game went into halftime tied at 0-0.

Early in the second half, Lorran received the ball in the middle, drove it in, and took a shot from outside the box. The ball grazed the post. In the 23rd minute, the Boys had a string of chances. First, a free kick from the edge of the box, taken by Lorran, and then two more shots from the red-and-blacks.

At 25', Vasco opened the scoring: 1-0.

After the opponent's goal, the Garotos do Ninho went forward, but despite all their efforts, the Cruz-Maltino goal gave the final numbers to the match.
