In the first leg of the U-20 Rio Cup final, Flamengo hosted Botafogo this Sunday (09.08), at the Gávea headquarters. Despite the struggle of the red-black players, the visitor ended up winning 3-2. Champion of the Guanabara Cup, the Mais Querido is already in the final of the Carioca Championship and fights to win the state title early.

The first goal scored by Gávea's new electronic scoreboard, purchased by a fan project, It was Cafu's turn. The Flamengo player took a free kick and opened the scoring in the 30th minute of the first half. Eleven minutes later, Ribamar equalized for Botafogo. In the second half, the game remained open, and both teams had chances. In the 11th minute, however, it was Botafogo who scored again. And the lead increased in the 35st minute of the second half. Flamengo didn't give up, and Felipe Vizeu pulled one back in the 41th minute. The striker almost tied the match with the final kick, but the match ended in a Botafogo victory.

In the Rio Cup, Botafogo has the advantage of a draw in the final due to their better campaign in the first phase. To take the title, Flamengo needs to win the second leg by two goals. The return leg is at Engenhão next Sunday (August 16.08) at 15 pm.
