Flamengo and Vasco played a hard-fought and evenly matched derby on Sunday morning (March 26.03) at Gávea, in a match valid for the 11th round of the Guanabara U-20 Cup. Flamengo started better, imposing the pace and creating more scoring chances. In the second half of the first half, the opponent evened the action and finished the half even better in the game, forcing goalkeeper Gabriel Batista to make three important saves to maintain the 0-0 score.

The first ten minutes of the second half were dominated by Flamengo. Just when the "Garotos do Ninho" seemed to be closing in on a goal, Paulo Vitor opened the scoring for Vasco. From then on, the game became an attack versus defense, and it was Vasco's goalkeeper João Pedro's turn to shine, making some excellent saves and being largely responsible for Flamengo's first home loss in this state championship.

Third place in Group A of the Guanabara Cup with 22 points (Botafogo 24pts, Madureira 23pts), Flamengo remains firm in the fight for qualification for the semifinals, and returns to the field this Wednesday (29.03) against Volta Redonda, at Estádio da Cidadania. The game is scheduled for 19:30 pm, and will be the preliminary of the duel between the professionals, at 21:45 pm.
