After making up a two-goal difference and putting on a lot of pressure in the second half, Flamengo drew 2-2 with Botafogo, away from home, on the synthetic pitch of the Nilton Santos Stadium, in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. The result left the Rubro-negro under-20 team out of the Taça Otávio Pinto Guimarães. The opponent took the spot on aggregate, as they had won the first leg 1-0. Douglas Telles and Juan Sayago scored Fla's goals in the match, played this Friday (10).

Shortly after the kickoff, Botafogo opened the scoring with a shot from outside the box, just one minute into the game. Flamengo then had a good chance in the 3rd minute with Josmar, who narrowly missed the ball. In the 6th minute, Pablo broke through on the right and shot into the side netting. Josmar had another chance in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper anticipated the play and managed to clear the ball.

The opponent extended their lead in the 32nd minute. The Flamengo team quickly responded and scored their first goal through Douglas, who capitalized on Gusttavo's cross from the right in the 35th minute. Before that, Sayago had already taken a dangerous free kick, well saved by the goalkeeper. Despite having more possession, Flamengo failed to create any clear chances until the end of the first half.

Flamengo returned for the second half pressing hard. After two dangerous attacks, Juan Sayago equalized the match with a free kick from the left side of the area in the 10th minute. The offensive posture of the red-and-black team led to plays down the wings, crosses and many corner kicks, but the goal just wouldn't come. João Vitor Couto made a play down the right and crossed to Jhefinho who tried to head the ball in, but the opposing defense cleared it in the 28th minute.

The winning goal almost came in the 37th minute when Jheffinho was fouled at the edge of the area. Gusttavo took the free kick, and the ball went very close to the crossbar, to the left of the goalkeeper. Despite continuing to press their opponent in search of an equalizer, Flamengo struggled to create opportunities because the game became very fragmented. Shortly before the final whistle, Amâncio crossed the ball, and Camargo almost managed to get a shot off from the edge of the six-yard box.
