A rout and qualification for the round of 16. This was the red-black team's debut in the Under-20 Brazil Cup, this Wednesday (22), at the José Bastos Padilha Stadium, in Gávea. The 4-0 victory over Porto Vitória-ES had goals from Douglas Telles, Guilherme, Daniel Sales and João Vitor.

Flamengo's opponent will come from the clash between Atlético-MG and Nova Brasília-DF. Before continuing in the national competition, however, the Rubro-Negro will face Maricá in the second leg of the Carioca U-20 quarterfinals. The match is scheduled for next Saturday (25), at 11 am, in Gávea. In the first leg, the Garotos do Ninho won 3-0, and they play for two equal results.

The game

Flamengo's first shot came just three minutes in. Guilherme fired from outside the box, and the ball sailed just wide of the right post. Bruno Pivetti's team soon opened the scoring. Da Mata cut off Porto Vitória's attack, Pedro Leão collected the rebound, and passed it to Douglas Telles, who finished with a cross into the goalkeeper's right corner in the eighth minute.

The Espírito Santo team first threatened in the 19th minute, with a quick play down the left. Johnny cleared the danger. The red-and-black team responded with a ball steal in the middle in the 25th minute. The ball reached Guilherme, who put Alan Santos in good position, but the opposing goalkeeper blocked the shot. Three minutes later, Gusttavo crossed from the right, the ball went past the goalkeeper and out to the right.

In the 34th minute, Daniel Sales delivered a low pass and Pedro Leão fired over the bar, close to the goal. The second goal came in the 41st minute, when Guilherme received the ball from Kaio Nóbrega, just outside the halfway line, dribbled past his marker, advanced down the left flank, and beat the goalkeeper, bulging the net. Before the end of the first half, Porto Vitória had a dangerous chance.

Flamengo needed two chances to score the third goal, scored in the 12th minute. It was a stunning goal, by the way. In the first, Alan Santos was fouled at the edge of the box, Guilherme took the shot, and the ball deflected off the wall and went dangerously wide left. From the corner kick, Daniel Sales picked up the rebound outside the box, controlled it with his thigh, and struck hard, keeping the ball out of reach. The ball went into the left corner.

In the 29th minute, Kaio Nobrega hit a powerful long-range shot. The ball sailed wide right, near the post. In another fine move, Kaio Nobrega passed to João Vitor, who fired a low shot that the opposing number 1 saved. A minute later, João Vitor scored the fourth after a rebound from Alan Santos' shot.

With a strong presence in the attacking half, Flamengo had good chances to extend their lead. Two of them came in quick succession, from David, in a move in the box, and from Emanuel, after a corner kick in the 39th minute. The pressure continued, but the score remained unchanged.

Coach: Bruno Pivetti.
