Team beats Corinthians 1-0 in Volta Redonda and secures spot thanks to away goal in the first leg

On Wednesday night (22.04), Flamengo's under-17 team beat Corinthians 1-0 in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil in that category, at the Raulino de Oliveira stadium, in Volta Redonda. With an aggregate score of 2-2, the away goals tiebreaker was valid and the Rubro-Negro qualified for the semifinals. In the first leg, the São Paulo team had won 2-1.
In the 13th minute, Matheus Iacovelli scored the only goal of the match for the Red-Blacks. The player took a penalty, the goalkeeper saved it, and the striker made no mistake on the rebound: 1-0. Iacovelli celebrated the goal that secured qualification. "I've faced the goalkeeper before; he knows me from penalties, but thank God I was lucky enough to grab the rebound to help my team," he said. Matheus was crucial in securing qualification, as he also scored the goal in the first leg in São Paulo.
