Flamengo was defeated by Atlético-MG 3-1, this Tuesday (16), at Estádio José Bastos Padilha, in Gávea, for the fourth round of the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. In an intense and very disputed match from the initial minutes, Rubro-Negro created good opportunities, but ended up running into a great performance by the opposing goalkeeper.

The game

The match began evenly and was marked by a lot of physical play. In one of the first shots on goal, Vinicius took advantage of the opportunity to open the scoring for Atlético-MG. Flamengo responded with attacks down the left flank, mainly through their number 10, João Vitor Couto, but struggled to break through the Minas Gerais defense. Shortly after, Gabriel Veneno extended the lead for the visitors.

The Flamengo team continued to try and reduce the deficit. Bruno Silva made a crucial save to prevent another opposing goal, while the Flamengo youth team continued their attacks, but were thwarted by great saves from goalkeeper Guilherme Pires. In fact, at the 20-minute mark, Luiz Guilherme headed the ball towards the corner, only to see the Atlético goalkeeper make another excellent save.

At 38 minutes, Gabriel Veneno took a shot from outside the box and scored a beautiful goal for Atlético-MG's third goal. Before halftime, Flamengo still threatened with an individual play by Samuel Silva on the left, but the opposing goalkeeper made another save. Then, at 44 minutes, Daniel Silva cleared a ball off the line after an important save by Bruno Silva.

Returning for the second half, Flamengo reduced the deficit in the very first minute of the game with their first attack. Isaac Gomes, who had just entered the match, made a beautiful individual play down the right flank, looked up, and finished with class to score Flamengo's first goal.

The number 25 almost scored again in the 18th minute, when he went one-on-one with the opposing goalkeeper, who managed to touch the ball with his foot and send it out for a corner. 

Despite fighting hard and applying pressure until the final minutes, Flamengo couldn't reduce the deficit, and the match ended with a 3-1 victory for Atlético at Gávea.

Now, Flamengo turns its attention to the next commitment of the season: the Carioca Championship semi-final against Fluminense, scheduled for Saturday (20).
