Flamengo U-13 is the undefeated champion of the CFZ Club Tournament

With a 5-0 win over Sogima in the final, Garotos do Ninho secured the 16th title of the red-black youth football team in 2021

Flamengo won the CFZ Under-13 Club Tournament title undefeated. The final was played on Friday afternoon (15), at CFZ do Recreio. Led by coach Daniel Franklin, Mengão's Under-13 Ninho Boys beat Sogima 5-0 in the final (Neto [2], Tarcísio, Francisco Pedro and Pedro Giraud). It was the 16th title of the red-black youth football in the 2021 season, and another one achieved with an undefeated campaign.

The game

After defeating Serrano 4-0, Sogima 1-0, and drawing 1-1 with Boavista, Mengão's U-13 team qualified for the final as the group stage leader. In the grand final, they faced Sogima, who finished second in the first stage.

Unlike the draw in the qualifying round, Mengão dominated the final match from the opening whistle. Just seven minutes into the match, Tarcísio opened the scoring for the Garotos do Ninho. A minute later, Neto doubled the lead. And in the 13th minute, Neto added another, giving the Mais Querido a comfortable lead, allowing them to control the match calmly and field all of their bench players.

Even so, Mengão extended their lead in the second half. In the 24th minute, Francisco Pedro scored the fourth goal for the Red-Blacks, who sealed the victory in the 27th minute with a goal from Pedro Giraud. 5-0, Mengão thus won their 16th youth championship title in 2021.

U-10 finishes the tournament undefeated and without conceding a goal, but loses the final on penalties

Shortly after, it was the turn of the Garotos do Ninho U-10 team to take the field for the category final. With an even better performance than the U-13 team in the qualifying round, the Mais Querido reached the final with a 100% record, after defeating Serrano, Boavista, and Sogima, all by 2-0 scores. In the final, they faced Boavista again.

After a very even match from start to finish, a 0-0 draw in regulation time forced the title decision to a penalty shootout. Boavista won 5-4 and was crowned the tournament champion in the U-10 category.
