Finalists in the Guanabara Cup of the Metropolitan Championship, the Garotos do Ninho U-13 team, led by coach Daniel Franklin, played at a very high level in the Copa Integração, a kind of Brazilian Championship for the category, and by defeating Santos in the grand final, in a penalty shootout, they became undefeated champions of the competition. This was the 12th title won by Flamengo's youth team in the 2022 season. 

Undefeated campaign 

The tough national competition was played at the Cotia Training Center in São Paulo, with a single-round system in the first phase, with the top two teams qualifying directly for the final. In the first two matches, the Mais Querido drew twice. In the debut, a 2-2 draw against Santos. In the second round, another 2-2 draw, this time against Palmeiras. 

Needing to gain points, Mengão achieved three very important victories in the following rounds: 2-0 over Red Bull Bragantino in the third round, 2-0 over São Paulo in the fourth round and 1-0 in the fifth and final round over the then leader Corinthians, a result that qualified Mengão for the final and eliminated the São Paulo team. 

In the grand final, the Ninho Boys faced Santos again, their opening opponent. In another closely contested match, the 0-0 draw took the decision to a penalty shootout. And then, the maturity and quality of the red-and-blacks sealed the title. Mengão won 4-3, and celebrated the 12th title won by the red-and-black youth team in 2022. Congratulations, #NinhoBoys!
