Flamengo U-15 secures extra point by winning penalties against Nova Iguaçu

Goalkeeper Vinicius was the star of the game, saving two penalties in the dispute.

With a mixed team of U-15 and U-14 athletes (the main U-15 team is competing in the Copa Brasil-Japan semifinal), Flamengo took the field this Saturday morning and drew 1-1 against Nova Iguaçu. In the penalty shootout, which is part of the competition's regulations, the Garotos do Ninho prevailed: 5-4. Goalkeeper Vinicius was the standout, saving two penalties.

The match was held at the opponent's training center and was part of the fifth round of the Guanabara Cup. Pedrinho scored Mengão's goal.

The red-black team's next match will take place on September 7th, against Madureira, in Gávea.
