The under-15 Flamengo team, competing in the BH Cup, achieved another victory this Wednesday (10.12). Flamengo faced the current champions and home team, Cruzeiro, and with a very dedicated and organized performance, defeated one of the favorites for the title. With the result, the Mais Querido took second place in its group with seven points and one game less than the leader, Azul Celeste.

Early in the match, the underdog Flamengo had the opportunity to open the scoring when they were awarded a penalty and failed to convert it. Cruzeiro opened the scoring shortly after, which didn't slow down the Red-Blacks' momentum. A few minutes later, Marques opened the scoring for Flamengo and tied the match. From that moment on, the Mais Querido (Most Beloved) didn't stop attacking.

Soon after, Tuller turned the score around at a time when Flamengo had complete control of the game. With every sector of the field playing brilliantly, the boys were looking to extend their lead until Tuller, who scored the second goal, got involved in a scuffle with the opposing team and was sent off. But even that wasn't enough to dull the shine of Flamengo's performance. "It was a spectacular victory. We were playing at our opponent's home ground, but we were superior throughout the match. We played on a synthetic pitch, which we're not used to, making today's match even more special. In my opinion, it was our best game, in terms of dedication, organization, and technique. We had a great attitude," said Gilmar Popoca, Flamengo's under-15 coach.

The Red-Blacks play their final match of this group stage against Corinthians this Thursday at 9 a.m. in Belo Horizonte. Despite Wednesday's strong result (December 10.12), Gilmar Popoca made no secret of his true desire to finish this first stage of the competition as leaders and with the same seriousness he imposed against the home team. "It will be a very even match. Our last meeting against Corinthians was in the Friendship Cup final, where we won, so I believe they will come with a strong desire to overcome us. Despite this, we won't change our style of play and will arrive with a winning mentality. We came here to have a brilliant championship and we will, indeed, aim to qualify in first place," concluded the coach.
