This Monday (28), the table for the 11th edition of the Guilherme Embry Sub-16 tournament was drawn. Rubro-Negro debuts on September 18 against Belfort Roxo, at 9 am, at CT das Vargens, and in the second round, faces Botafogo on the 21st, at the same location, at 09 am.
The name of Rio's main Under-16 tournament comes from a distinguished Flamengo member, who used to frequently attend the Rubro-Negro's youth games, whether in Rio or not.
It's worth noting that the Red-Black team is a three-time champion of the competition. In 2015, the "Garotos do Ninho" lifted the trophy for the first time with Matheus Thuler, Vinícius Souza, and Hugo Souza on the field, in addition to Marcio Torres and Marlon Syndara, currently the assistant coach and physical trainer for the U-20 team, respectively. For their second championship in 2017, Mário Jorge led that team, which featured João Gomes in midfield. Their last victory was in 2018.
