The big decision of the Flamengo Adidas Cup 2023 was played on Sunday morning (17), at CT George Helal, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The final of the second edition promoted the meeting between the owners of the two best campaigns of the First Phase, since Mengão was the leader of Group 1 and São Paulo took first place in Group 2. The cup went to Rubro-Negro da Gávea, who beat the São Paulo team 2-0 at Field 3 of Ninho do Urubu.

With this morning's victory, Flamengo secured its second consecutive title in the competition. Last year, in the first edition of the Adidas Cup, Mengão won the title after defeating Santos Laguna of Mexico in the grand final.  

Sunday's match started off fiercely competitive, with both teams closely studying each other and taking no risks. The first good scoring chance of the match came after the water break. In the 24th minute of the first half, Takada cleared the play in the box and passed the ball to Igão on the right wing. The São Paulo defender and captain controlled the ball, setting up for a shot, and hit a cross, aiming for the right corner. The ball flew just wide of the post and went wide. Flamengo responded within a minute. Camargo dispossessed Igão near the box and crossed back. Joshua arrived with a shot and sent the ball over the goal. 

In the 28th minute, Lucca received the ball facing goal, burst into the box, and hit the net from the outside, nearly scoring Tricolor's first goal. Mengão exchanged numerous passes at the edge of the box and looked for the best moment to shoot, but failed to pose any significant threat to the goal defended by goalkeeper João Paulo. 

In the second half, Flamengo found the net just five minutes into the match. Full-back Wanderson made a great run down the right, cutting inside, and reaching the goal line to cross. Joshua rose well and headed home. In the 13th minute, Joshua made a good run down the right, passing through to Douglas Telles, and went from top scorer to waiter. Mengão's number 7 showed composure to dribble past the opposing goalkeeper and extend the lead. 

With the advantage, Flamengo began to work the ball more defensively and managed the result. Coach Rafael Bahia made changes to the team to revive the momentum, and Mengão went the distance without any major scares and took the 2023 Adidas Cup trophy. 

The Flamengo Adidas Cup 2023 is a U-16 competition, and the competition rules stipulate that matches will consist of two 35-minute halves. Five rounds of the First Phase and two Semifinals were played leading up to Sunday's final. Fla TV broadcast all matches live.
