By Ian Sena - inActing once again in a very secure defensive and tactically consistent manner, the Garotos do Ninho U-16 team, led by coach Leo Ramos and who have already won the Olaria Cup this season, beat Cruzeiro 2-0 (Lucas Matheus and Pyetro) on Tuesday afternoon (05), in a duel valid for the semi-final of the Copa Brasileirinho Internacional U-17 played at Toca Da Raposa, and still undefeated in 2022, they secured a place in the grand final of the competition. It is worth remembering that Mengão plays the competition, which is U-17, with its U-16 team. The final will be this Wednesday (06) at 15 pm, against the winner of Juventude (RS) and Vitória (BA).

The game
A hallmark of the U-16 team this season, the match against Cruzeiro saw the red-and-blacks dominate from the opening whistle. Once again very solid defensively, the "Mais Querido" (Most Beloved) didn't give their opponent any scoring chances and created opportunities in attack. The first goal came in the 14th minute, scored by Lucas Matheus, following an assist from Luan Andrey. It was their seventh goal of the competition. With the strongest team on the field, the red-and-blacks extended their lead in the 28th minute with Pyetro, who scored his fourth goal in the Copa Brasileirinho Internacional. During the second half, Mengão managed the score very well, and trying to conserve energy with the final in mind, they maintained their 2-0 lead and celebrated their qualification for another final in the 2022 season.
"Another very solid performance from our team, which once again managed to play the style of football we believe in: game-playing, ball control, and dominance. Our team was very mature on the field and has been improving with each match this season. I want to congratulate our players and the coaching staff. We're going strong for this final tomorrow," said Thiago Aprígio, Technical Coordinator of Flamengo's Youth Football Department.
