Flamengo U-16 eliminates Vasco and is in the semifinals of the Brasil Soccer Cup
With two goals from Felipe Lima, Garotos do Ninho beat their rivals for the third time this year and remain undefeated in the competition.
By Ian Sena - inJust as it did in the final of the Olaria Renovado Cup in March, Mengão's U-16 team beat Vasco 2-0 (Felipe Lima [2]) in the duel valid for the quarterfinals of the Brasil Soccer Cup played in the early afternoon of this Tuesday (26) at the Claudio Moacyr de Azevedo Stadium, in Macaé. It was the third victory of the category over the rival in the 2022 season. Mais Querido guaranteed a place in the semifinals of the national competition undefeated, with three wins and one draw. Tomorrow, Rubro-Negro plays for a place in the final against the winner of Botafogo X São Paulo. FlaTV will broadcast live at 14 pm.
The game
The derby was very evenly matched, with few scoring chances in the first half. But in the second half, the Ninho Boys came back determined to quickly decide the game, scoring twice in seven minutes. In the fourth minute, Felipe Lima showed great opportunism, capitalizing on a Vasco defense error and tapping the ball into the back of the net, opening the scoring for Mengão. Shortly thereafter, in the 11th minute, Edmilson crossed perfectly for Felipe Lima to volley beautifully and extend the red-and-blacks' lead in the derby.
Demonstrating great maturity and calm, the Garotos do Ninho managed the score very well until the final whistle, and secured their well-deserved spot in the semi-finals of the 2022 Brasil Soccer Cup.
