Flamengo's U-16 team debuts this Wednesday (10) in the Copa Brasileirinho Internacional, in Minas Gerais, at 21 pm, against North-MG. It is the category's first participation in the competition. Before, they already lifted the trophy recently, in 2022, for the U-14 and U-17.

Mengão is in Group A, based in São João Del Rey, and besides North-MG, it also faces Athletic-MG and Uberaba-MG. The top two teams from each group qualify for the round of 16. Moving forward, the "Garotos do Ninho" will face teams from Group H, which consists of Botafogo, São Paulo, Flexeiras-RJ, and CGP Lavras-MG. Check out the Rubro-Negro schedule:

The games will last 35 minutes each half, and the team can make up to eight substitutions at three different times. Coach Eduardo Zuma spoke about the debut and the importance of the competition for the team.

"We're going to make our debut against North, a club that was born ambitious, that has been structuring itself within the Minas Gerais scene and we want to leave our best on the field, if we give our all we will get closer to winning the games and that's what we have to always focus on," said the coach who added:

"I believe that representing Flamengo in any competitive environment is a source of great pride. We dream of moments like this, and we must cherish and give our all whenever we represent the Red-Black team. Regarding the Brasileirinho, it's a short-term competition. We'll play the first phase in São João Del Rei, and we have to build a campaign game by game that allows us to experience everything the competition demands of us. Opportunity is a word that symbolizes being here, and the best way to be grateful for this chance is to do our best on and off the field to achieve our sporting goals," concluded Zuma.
