Under the strong sun that hung over Rio de Janeiro on the morning of this Thursday (2), the Garotos do Ninho Sub-16 beat Fluminense 3-1, on Rua Bariri, for the Olaria Renovado Cup. João Camargo, Italo and Joshua scored the red-black goals in the match. With the result, Flamengo reaches six points and leads group A of the competition. 

The game

Not even the heat of Olaria could dampen the momentum of the Ninho Boys at the start of the match. In the opening minutes, João Camargo received the ball from the left, controlled it, and fired a powerful shot to open the scoring on Rua Bariri: 1-0 Flamengo.

And it didn't take long for Mengão to extend their lead. A free kick from the halfway line went wide, and Italo finished, unmarked, to the delight of the Red-Black Nation: 2-0 Flamengo.

Flamengo didn't slow down and created chances, but the result remained at half-time.

In the second half, Fluminense threatened to put pressure on, but were stopped by the solid defense of Mais Querido.

During one of the Garotos do Ninho's breakaways, João Camargo received the ball in the box and was brought down by the opposing defender. The referee, on the spot, awarded a penalty. Joshua displaced the goalkeeper and scored another: 3-0 Flamengo.

In the final minutes, Fluminense reduced the deficit and gave the final score to the match: 3-1 Flamengo.
