Flamengo U-16 defeats Vasco and is in the semifinals of the Olaria Cup Renewed with 100% success rate
Far superior on the field, Garotos do Ninho easily win 2-0 and await their opponent for a place in the final
By Ian Sena - inIn their best collective performance so far in the 2022 Olaria Renovado Cup, Flamengo's Under-16 team, led by coach Leo Ramos, controlled the game throughout and had little difficulty beating Vasco 2-0 (Gusttavo and Pedrinho), in a classic match valid for the third and final round of the tournament's group stage.
The convincing victory in the derby guarantees first place in Group A and maintains the team's 100% winning record in the competition. Their opponent in the fight for a place in the final will be decided this afternoon between Fluminense, Botafogo, and Madureira.

The Game
Under intense heat on Rua Bariri, Flamengo took to the field already qualified, but aiming for first place in the group. A simple draw would suffice, but the Flamengo youth team wanted more and sought victory from the opening whistle. Flamengo's superiority turned into a lead in the 20th minute when Gusttavo exchanged passes with Luan Andrey and beautifully slotted the ball into the top corner past Vasco goalkeeper Alemão to open the scoring.

Flamengo's dominance continued in the second half, with the team showing great defensive consistency and quick counter-attacks when in possession. It was on one of these counter-attacks that Flamengo extended their lead. Eight minutes in, Luan Andrey outpaced his marker, entered the penalty area and delivered a perfect pass to Pedrinho, who volleyed it home to seal the third consecutive victory for the Flamengo youth team in the 2022 Olaria Renovado Cup.
