In a historic classic played on Saturday morning (12) at the Rua Bariri Stadium, in Olaria, the Under-16 teams of Flamengo and Vasco dueled for the title of the 2022 Olaria Renovado Cup. Confirming the technical and tactical superiority that had already been demonstrated in the calm 2-0 victory achieved in the group stage, the Garotos do Ninho once again overcame their rival, this time in an exciting 4-3 (Pedrinho [2], Luan Andrey and David), with a goal in the last second of injury time, and won the tournament title, with a perfect campaign of five wins in five games.

The Game

Vasco took the lead with their first shot on goal, through Paulo Roberto, in the eighth minute. The better team, Mengão equalized in the 33rd minute, with a beautiful header from Pedrinho, following a free kick from Schlickmann.

In the second half, Flamengo asserted its superiority and completely dominated the match. Pedrinho turned the game around in the 25th minute with a first-time shot into the corner of goalkeeper Alemão's net. In the 40th minute, Luan Andrey, the competition's top scorer with seven goals, received the ball from David and scored the goal that looked like it would give the title to the Mais Querido.

But Vasco managed to secure an unlikely draw, with goals from Alexandre in the 42nd minute and Igor in the 43rd. Undeterred, the Red-Blacks returned to the attack and scored the title-winning goal in the final play of the match, with David scoring after a corner kick in the box. Then, it was just a matter of waiting for the final whistle and celebrating Flamengo's second youth title of 2022.
