In a delayed game of the eighth round of the Under-17 Guanabara Cup, Flamengo was defeated by Fluminense 1-0 on the morning of this Wednesday (20), at CT Vale das Laranjeiras, in Xerém. The Boys of the Nest face Nova Iguaçu next Saturday (23), in Gávea.

The game
With the field heavily weighted down by the rain, the match began with both teams trying to pass the ball out, but the puddles made it difficult to pass the ball. Three minutes in, Matheus Gonçalves sent a ball into the box for Fabrício Yan, who nearly deflected it into the net.

In the 9th minute, Victor Hugo made a good play at the edge of the box and passed to Matheus Gonçalves, who fired a shot into the goalkeeper's right corner. The ball just missed the post. Petterson then arrived well on the left side of the box, cut inside, and shot against the post. Flamengo created the best chances of the first half but went into the break with the score 0-0.

The start of the second half saw a flurry of activity from the red-and-black team on the attack, trying to find space in Fluminense's defense to score. In the 5th minute, Petterson received the ball on the left, cut inside, and fired a shot. The ball sailed just wide of the post.

In the final stretch of the derby, the game was fiercely contested, with a fierce battle for possession. In the 28th minute, Petterson received a beautiful pass from Matheus Gonçalves, made a fine individual move inside the box, and fired a cross-shot, but no one was there in time to clear it. In the final minutes, Kayquy Almeida opened the scoring for Fluminense, giving the team from Laranjeiras a 1-0 victory.

Next appointment
Flamengo's U-17s return to the field next Saturday (23) to face Nova Iguaçu, at 13 pm, in Gávea, for the last round of the Guanabara Cup.
