Qualification with a rout. Playing this Tuesday at Gávea, Flamengo thrashed América-MG 4-1 (aggregate 6-2) and secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil. Davi Waisman, Jhefinho, João Ricardo, and Levy scored for Flamengo. The Garotos do Ninho's opponent will be announced later in the day.

The game

Two good chances in the opening minutes. The first was ruled offside. In the second, in the second minute, Vitor Hugo shot straight at the goalkeeper. 

At 7, the opponent took advantage of a defensive mistake and made it 1-0. But the equalizer came in the 10th minute. Davi Waisman, on a free kick, tried to lift the ball into the box, but it capriciously ended up going into the back of the net.

With much more offensive dominance and playmaking on both sides of the field, Mengão was rewarded with the winning goal, in the 22nd minute, with Jhefinho, after a low cross from the right by Heitor.

And there was more in the first half. In the 41st minute, Heitor once again found João Ricardo in a good position. The number 8 made a good catch, scoring his first goal for Flamengo.

With a good lead on the scoreboard, Flamengo controlled the game well in the second half and extended their lead. In the 23rd minute, a move down the right by Davi Waisman led to a goal by defender Levi: 4-1.

The Mais Querido will return to the field this Saturday (29), but for the Campeonato Carioca, when it will face Volta Redonda, at home, at 14 pm. The team, so far, has a 100% success rate in the competition.
