In training held on Saturday afternoon (27) at the Gabriel Marques da Silva Municipal Stadium, in Santana do Parnaíba (SP), Flamengo's U-20 team finalized its preparation for the first leg of the semi-final of the Brazilian U-20 Championship. The duel is scheduled for tomorrow, at 15 pm, at Arena Barueri. The return leg will be hosted by the red-black team, and will take place next Sunday (04/09), at 16 pm, with the location yet to be defined.
Having had the best overall record in the first phase of the competition, with six wins, two draws, and only one loss, the Mais Querido defeated Internacional in the quarterfinals after drawing 1-1 in Porto Alegre and winning 1-0 at Gávea Stadium. Coach Mario Jorge spoke about the team's current form:
"Our campaign throughout the competition was always very consistent, as we always sought victory in every game. The result was that we had the best overall campaign. And we were very satisfied, as we fought for it. Now, in the semifinal, our goal is to bring that confidence back onto the field. We'll face a very high-quality opponent, and every detail could make the difference in the match," said Mario Jorge.
