In the third state classic valid for the qualifying phase of the Brazilian U-20 Championship, the Garotos do Ninho, led by coach Fabio Matias, achieved their third victory. Playing in Gávea on Monday afternoon (30), Mengão hosted Fluminense, in a match valid for the 13th round, and won 4-2 (Lázaro [2], Thiaguinho and own goal). Before, the Mais Querido had already beaten Botafogo (1-0) and Vasco (2-1). Today's important victory puts Rubro-Negro in fifth place, with 24 points. In the next round, Flamengo travels to face Chapecoense, in Chapecó. Before that, on Thursday (02.09), Mengão's U-20 hosts Madureira, in Gávea, in the second leg of the quarterfinals of the Campeonato Carioca. A draw is enough to guarantee the Garotos do Ninho's place in the semifinals.

Fluminense opened the scoring in the first minute of the match, through Luan Brito. The Boys from the Nest didn't feel the impact of the goal and went on the attack. In the fourth minute, Cleiton headed the ball, but goalkeeper Thiago Gonçalves made a great save. From a corner kick, Noga headed wide. In the 19th minute, Lázaro received the ball at the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful shot over the Tricolor goal. Mengão were the better team and equalized in the 36th minute, when Max delivered a beautiful pass to Lázaro, who fired a first-time shot, leaving Thiago Gonçalves with no chance, and scored a truly stunning goal. 

The Boys of the Nest returned for the second half determined to win the match, and they scored the winning goal in just six minutes. Werton passed the ball to Luan, who crossed low to André. Before the ball reached the feet of the Flamengo center forward, defender Damaceno tried to clear it and scored an own goal. However, in an isolated move, Fluminense equalized again, with Yago in the 17th minute. 

Mengão returned to the attack. In the 21st minute, Daniel Cabral took a free kick, and the ball flew just wide of Thiago Gonçalves' right post. In the 24th minute, Flamengo regained the lead with another stunning goal. Ramon took a throw-in into the box, and Thiaguinho, who had just come on for Werton, volleyed it in, surprising the Tricolor goalkeeper. In the 35th minute, Flamengo extended their lead. Lázaro took the first shot, which the goalkeeper saved with his feet, but the rebound was useless. Lázaro unleashed a powerful shot that swelled the net for his tenth goal of the season and the fourth for the Garotos do Ninho, sealing the derby's final score.
