Flamengo's U-20 team, led by coach Mario Jorge, visited Internacional at Morada dos Quero-Queros, in Alvorada (RS), on Saturday morning (13), in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Championship. The 1-1 draw (Petterson) gives Rubro-Negro the possibility of qualifying for the semifinal of the competition with a simple victory in the second leg, which will be played next Wednesday (17), at 15:15 pm, in Gávea.
The game
The match started slowly. Due to the Flamengo defense's inattention, Internacional opened the scoring in the tenth minute with Lucca. From then on, it was all Flamengo. In the 16th minute, Igor Jesus took a shot from outside the box, but goalkeeper Anthoni made a solid save. In the 29th minute, in a beautiful attacking move, Kayke David shot from the edge of the box, but Anthoni made another save.
Flamengo returned for the second half with possession, control of the game, and pressing hard in search of an equalizer. And it nearly came in the 20th minute, when Wesley found Mateusão well-positioned inside the box. The cross-shot went just wide of Anthoni's right post. A minute later, Wesley again passed to Mateusão, who shot wide.
The Ninho Boys were looking for a goal. In the 30th minute, Pedro Arthur took a free kick, and Anthoni made a great save. Diego's corner kick was clever, and the ball sailed past the Colorado goal. Flamengo was the only team to win. In the 34th minute, Pedro Arthur shot from the penalty spot, and Anthoni performed a miracle, clearing the ball with his feet.
The much-deserved equalizer took a while, but finally arrived in the 45th minute, with a beautiful low shot from Petterson. This time, Anthoni had no chance to save. The Mais Querido only needs a simple victory at Gávea to secure a spot in the Brasileirão semifinals.
Flamengo: Kauã Morais, Wesley, Diego, Cleiton, Ze Welinton; Igor Jesus, Evertton (Pedro Arthur), Werton (André Luiz); Kayke David (Pedrinho), Petterson and Mateusão. Coach: Mario Jorge.
