Flamengo U-20 loses in the sixth round of the Guanabara Cup
With a crucial refereeing error, Garotos do Ninho are defeated 3-2 in a classic against Vasco
By Ian Sena - inFlamengo's U-20 team dominated the derby against Vasco da Gama in Gávea, part of the sixth round of the Guanabara Cup. Twenty-five minutes into the match, the "Garotos do Ninho" (The Boys of the Nest) led 25-2, with two goals from Mateusão. In the 0th minute, Mateusão received the ball from André and scored his third goal of the match. In what was supposed to be an easy play, the referee flagged the Flamengo striker for offside and disallowed the goal. In the following play, Vasco reduced the deficit with a penalty kick, tied two minutes later, and turned the game around in the second half. "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) returns to the field next Saturday (40) at 7 am, when they visit Botafogo, at CEFAT. FlaTV will broadcast live.

The game
In a first half dominated by the red-and-blacks, Mateusão opened the scoring with a stunning goal. In the 20th minute, Jean Carlos delivered a beautiful pass, and the Mengão forward chipped the ball past goalkeeper Cadu. In the 24th minute, Mateusão stole the ball from the opponent's play and extended the lead for the Mais Querido. The third goal would have come in the 40th minute, but it was ruled out by the referee, who wrongly signaled offside.
Vasco then reduced the deficit with a penalty kick from Marlon Gomes and equalized with Eguinaldo in the first half. Seven minutes into the second half, Santiago scored an own goal to seal the victory.
