Flamengo U-20 defeats Botafogo and remains 100% in the Brazilian Championship

A 2-0 victory in the classic keeps the Garotos do Ninho in sole leadership of group A after three rounds.

After beating São Paulo 4-0 in their debut and beating Palmeiras 3-1 away from home in the second round, the Garotos do Ninho from Mengão's U-20 team, led by coach Mario Jorge, beat Botafogo 2-0 (Mateusão ​​and Ryan Luka) on Saturday afternoon (25) in Gávea, in a classic valid for the third round of the Brazilian Championship in the category.

The victory keeps Mais Querido with a 100% record and in sole leadership of Group A of the main national competition, with nine points won in three games. The next match is on Thursday (30), at 19 pm, against América MG in Belo Horizonte. 


The Game 

Thirsty for victory, the Red-Blacks put in a confident and consistent performance, dominating the match from the opening whistle. The score was broken in the 25th minute when Werton was awarded a penalty after a pass from Wesley. Mateusão ​​converted with skill, scoring his 17th goal of the season. 

In the second half, midfielder Matheus França returned to the field after recovering from injury, and with some great individual plays, he was Flamengo's standout performer. With his first touch, the "Garoto do Ninho" (The Boy from the Nest) left Mateusão ​​one-on-one with the goal, but the striker shot wide of the Botafogo goal. In the 35th minute, Daniel Cabral took a chance from the edge of the box. Goalkeeper Gabriel Toebe cleared the rebound, and Ryan Luka was perfectly positioned to tap it into the back of the net, sealing Flamengo's impressive victory in the Brazilian U-20 Championship.
