After winning the Brazilian championship for the second time last Thursday, when they beat Palmeiras on penalties after a draw in normal time, Flamengo U-20 returned to the field on Monday afternoon (11), in Gávea, for the round of 1 of the Copa Rio-OPG. The red-black team led by coach Mário Jorge defeated Pérolas Negras, 0-XNUMX, in the second leg of the competition.

The goal for Mais Querido was scored by Pedro Estevam, in the 34th minute of the second half.

Confrontation defined

The Garotos do Ninho's next opponent will be Botafogo in the quarterfinals. The first game will take place next Thursday (14), at 14:45 pm, at the Nilton Santos stadium.

The game

Playing with players who saw fewer minutes, with the only starters being goalkeeper Dyogo Alves and midfielder Evertton, Flamengo had few opportunities in the first half. The best of them was a free kick in the 21st minute, scored by Jean Carlos.

Upon returning from halftime, the red-and-black coach made four substitutions, two of which were key figures in the title-winning campaign: right-back Daniel and attacking midfielder Werton. Besides them, the other two who came on were directly involved in the goal. In the 34th minute, midfielder Adriel advanced down the left flank and delivered a low cross that was perfectly complemented by striker Pedro Estevam.
