On Saturday afternoon (26), in Gávea, Flamengo debuted in the Copa Rio Sub-16 and started the competition on the right foot. Victory by a score of 2x0 over Cabofriense.

The goals were scored only in the final stages of the match: after receiving an assist from Bernardo Nunes, Luiz Guilherme opened the scoring for the Garotos do Ninho in the 7th minute. Enrico scored Mengão's second in the 41st minute, giving the final score to the match.

The next match for the red-black U-16 team will be on Saturday (03), at 10 am, against Nova Iguaçu in an away match.

The Rio U-16 Cup is contested by 12 teams, and Flamengo is in Group B, alongside Fluminense, Nova Iguaçu, Volta Redonda, Cabofriense, and Audax Rio. The top two teams from each group qualify for the semifinals.
