By Cesar Nogueira - in
A well-deserved victory. With a lot of grit and determination, the U-20 Boys from Ninho beat Atlético-MG 3-1 on Friday afternoon (7), in Nova Lima, Minas Gerais. Mateusão, Pedrinho and Ryan Luka scored the red-black goals in the match. With the result, Mengão remains at the top of Group A with 15 points (5 wins and 1 loss).
The game
Not even a penalty goal conceded in the fifth minute of the first half shook coach Mário Jorge's team. With play down the left side of the field, attacking midfielder Petterson, one of the game's standout players, had excellent opportunities to equalize the score if it weren't for the opposing goalkeeper. Caio and Werton also had chances to score in the first half. But in the 5th minute, there was no way out. In a back-and-forth from the Minas Gerais team, Mateusão showed opportunism and tapped the ball into the back of the net: 45-1.
Even in heavy rain, the Flamengo came back with more intensity in the second half. In the 8th minute, Petterson, once again, made a good play and narrowly missed the tie. In the 36th minute, Ryan Luka, who had just entered the match, almost managed to turn in a cross into the box, one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
To cap off Mengão's strong performance, in the 45th minute, Caio Garcia, in a superb individual play, found Petterson on the right flank. The striker calmly cleared the opponent and passed to Pedrinho to score the winning goal.
To close the brilliant afternoon with a flourish, the Mais Querido scored the third, in the 51st minute, through Ryan Luka, from a penalty kick.
