Flamengo beat Bolívar 4-1 this Tuesday (10), at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado Stadium, in Quito, Ecuador, for the second round of the group stage of the Libertadores Sub-20. Even playing at 2.850 meters of altitude, Rubro-Negro controlled a large part of the match and built the result with goals from Ryan Roberto, Josmar, Alan Santos and Da Mata.
With the victory, Flamengo reaches six points, with a goal difference of six, and goes into the final round depending only on itself to guarantee first place in the group and advance to the semifinals of the competition.
The game
Playing at home, Bolívar entered the match looking to bounce back after a defeat in their opening game against Independiente Medellín. Flamengo, on the other hand, arrived buoyed by their victory in the first round and started the game imposing their rhythm.
Right in the first minute, Josmar advanced down the left, entered the penalty area, but was tackled just as he was about to shoot. Shortly after, at 5 minutes, Daniel Sales made a great play down the right and crossed into the area. The Bolivian defense failed to clear and the ball fell to Ryan Roberto, who controlled it and finished with skill to open the scoring.
Flamengo continued to dominate and extended their lead four minutes later: Alan Santos delivered a great pass to Josmar, who went one-on-one with the defender, dribbled past the marker and placed a shot into the right corner of goalkeeper López's net to make it 2-0.
With a lead on the scoreboard, Flamengo began to control the match, exchanging passes and working the ball well in the attacking field. At 21 minutes, Guilherme received the ball on the left, cut inside onto his right foot and took a shot from outside the area, but missed cleanly and made it easy for López to save. Shortly after, Ryan Roberto also shot from the edge of the area, again forcing a save from the goalkeeper.
Bolívar managed to reduce the deficit in the 33rd minute. Cronenbold stole the ball at the edge of the Flamengo penalty area, set it up for his left foot and finished into the corner past Leo Nannetti. The game remained open until halftime, with chances for both sides, but without any further changes to the score.
Returning for the second half, Flamengo continued to push forward. In the very first minute, Guilherme's shot deflected, earning him a corner. From Alan Santos' corner, João Victor rose well and headed firmly, but the ball went wide.
Seven minutes into the game, Bolívar were reduced to ten men after Ortuño was sent off for a foul on Josmar. With the numerical advantage, Flamengo took even greater control of the game. At 12 minutes, Kaio Nóbrega tried his luck from outside the area and hit the crossbar. Shortly after, García responded for Bolívar, forcing Leo Nannetti into a good save.
Flamengo continued to press and create opportunities. At the 30-minute mark, Alan Santos received the ball inside the area, dribbled past two defenders and shot powerfully, but the ball deflected off the defense and went out for a corner.
In the final minutes, Flamengo secured the victory. In the 45th minute, Pablo Lúcio passed to Gustavo on the left, who crossed into the box. Camargo challenged for the ball in the air and chested it down for Alan Santos to unleash a powerful shot and score a beautiful goal.
At the 49th minute, after a corner kick, the ball fell to Lucas Vieira, who dribbled past his marker and shot. López parried the shot, and Da Mata was there to finish with a fantastic goal, sealing the 4-1 victory. Like Ryan Roberto and Alan Santos, the number 7 also scored again in the competition, repeating his feat from the first round.
The Flamengo youth team returns to the field on Friday (13) to face Independiente Medellin, at 19 pm (21 pm, Brasília time), at the Atahualpa Olympic Stadium, for the third and final round of the group stage of the U-20 Libertadores. FlamengoTV will broadcast the match, with images.
