Flamengo wins the second match in the OPG Tournament
The red-black team defeated the Juventus de Realengo team, in Gávea, this Wednesday
By Media Relations - inAfter debuting with a 4-0 thrashing in the Octavio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG), Flamengo's junior team (under-20) returned to winning ways in the competition, this Wednesday (12.09). Rubro-Negro defeated Juventus in a comeback, 2-1, with goals from Digão and Lucas. The next match for the boys from Gávea will be against Nova Iguaçu, on Saturday (15.09), at 15 pm, in Nova Iguaçu.
"We played a very even game this afternoon, but we managed to control the match and come away with the victory. We're using all the players in the squad so they can have the opportunity to excel. The next match against Nova Iguaçu, away from home, will be a difficult one, but we're prepared and confident to face this one," said the team's coach, Cleber dos Santos.
The match started evenly for both teams. Flamengo had more scoring opportunities but failed to convert them. Juventus opened the scoring in the 43rd minute of the first half. But Juventus didn't let it slide, and in the 46th minute, Digão scored a stunning goal after receiving a cross from Escobar.
After returning from the locker room, Flamengo came back more focused. In the 41st minute, Lucas, who replaced Quiroga, scored with a header, sealing the Flamengo victory.
