Flamengo beat América-MG 2-0 and secured the best campaign in the first phase of the Brasileirão Sub-20

On Thursday afternoon (4), the U-20 Ninho Boys beat América-MG 2-0, in the U-20 Brasileirão, in Gávea. With the result, Mais Querido guarantees the best campaign in the qualifying phase of the competition, with 21 points in 9 games, and will have the right to decide their knockout matches at home - the first of which, against Athletico Paranaense, in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The first half was a fierce battle between the teams, but it was in the second, after coach Mário Jorge's substitutions, that Mengão took the lead. Lorran and Werton capitalized on the team's momentum after the break and scored the red-and-black goals.
The game
The Ninho Boys started the match by marking their opponent's ball out high. Following the first half, América-MG attempted to press, but Flamengo defended well and was unbeaten. Both teams sought to create opportunities, but the game went into halftime without any major scoring chances.
Early in the second half, Lorran received the ball on the left, beat the defender, and shot. The América-MG goalkeeper made the save on what was Mengão's best chance of the game so far.
And in the next play, in the 8th minute, Mengão opened the scoring! Zé Welinton made a run down the left, passed to Caio Garcia, who found Lorran in the box. The beautiful collective play was rewarded with the number 10 scoring: 1-0 Flamengo.
The first goal didn't relax the Ninho Boys, and Pedrinho soon created a threat with a shot from outside the box. After receiving a second yellow card for a foul just outside the box, Caio Garcia was sent off.
At 22', Werton received a beautiful pass from Pedrinho and chipped the ball over the opposing goalkeeper with extreme skill: 2-0 Flamengo.
Even with one less player, the Ninho Boys managed to increase the score and dominate the action until the end of the match.

Mengão under-20 returns to the field next Monday (8), to face Resende, for the Guanabara Cup.
