Flamengo's under-16 team debuted with a victory in the Havan/SC Cup, which began this Friday (03.12), in Santa Catarina. More precisely at the Albano Schimidt Stadium, in Joinville, the Rubro-negro team beat Gama (DF) on penalties, after a 0-0 draw in regular time.
With the result, Flamengo earned two points in Group B. Gama, despite the loss, earned one point. According to the regulations, this is the point awarded to each team in the event of a penalty shootout.
In the other match in the Flamengo group, Caxias (PR) defeated Santos (SP) 3-1 and took the lead. Only Cuiabá (MT) has yet to make its debut in Flamengo's group.
This Saturday (04.12), Flamengo will have a day off and will be able to watch the games: Santos x Cuiabá and Caxias x Gama from the box seats.
On Sunday (05.12/06.12), Flamengo will face Caxias. On Monday (07.12/17), the Rubro-negro will face Cuiabá and, on Tuesday (XNUMX/XNUMX), Santos. All games are scheduled for XNUMX pm, at the same location as the first match.
It's worth noting that the event organizers will not charge admission to any matches. They do, however, ask that anyone who wishes to help can bring a kilo of non-perishable food, which will be donated to charities.
The Havan/SC Cup will be played in four stages. In the first, five teams, divided into eight groups, compete for a spot in the second stage. No draws will be allowed in the competition. If they do occur, penalty kicks will be held. However, in this format, the winner will receive two points and the loser one point. If the victory is achieved in normal time, the winner will receive the usual three points.
After the group stage, the knockout stage will begin. If they advance, Flamengo will face the top-place team from Group A, Corinthians, Botafogo, Joinville (SC), Paraná (PR), and Rondonópolis (MT).
