In the last round of the Guanabara Under-20 Cup, Flamengo beat Nova Iguaçu 3-0 this Friday (2), in Gávea, and finished in second place with 23 points. Lorran, Diego and Euder scored the goals for Mengão. With the result, the Garotos do Ninho advanced to the quarterfinals of the Carioca and will face Madureira.

The game
The Nest Boys started the match strongly and opened the scoring after just two minutes. Wallace Yan made a fine individual run down the left and rolled the ball into the middle of the box. Lorran, well positioned, finished for the goal: 1-0.

With the advantage, the red-and-black team continued to attack, exchanging passes near the Nova Iguaçu box. In the 35th minute, Werton won the one-on-one with the opposing defense and fired a cross-shot. The ball went just wide of the post. Mengão ended the first half ahead.

Early in the second half, Mais Querido extended their lead. Pedrinho sent a corner kick to the far post, and defender Diego headed it in to score the second goal of the game, making it 2-0.

In the 33rd minute, Rubro-Negro scored the third, again from a corner kick. Pedrinho lofted the ball into the box, Diego headed it, Nova Iguaçu's defense cleared it on the line, and Euder tapped the rebound into the net, making the final score 3-0.

Now, Mengão faces Madureira in the quarterfinals of the Carioca U-20 Championship. The matches are scheduled for June 10th and 17th.
