Important victory for the Garotos do Ninho U-20 this Saturday (1). In a match valid for the third round of the Guanabara Cup, Mengão won three important points by beating Bangu, in Moça Bonita, by a score of 2 to 1. 

With the result, Flamengo recovered from last week's unexpected defeat in Gávea.

The game
While the temperature in Bangu is traditionally high (the wind chill at 10 a.m. was already over 30 degrees Celsius), the first half started hot on the field as well. Within the first minute of play, the opposing team opened the scoring. After a brief scare, Flamengo didn't take long to equalize. In the seventh minute, forward Ryan Luka made a good play down the left flank, and a perfectly placed cross was met by Rodriguinho, making it 7-1. In the 1th minute, midfielder Daniel Rogério unleashed a dangerous shot from outside the box, narrowly missing the goalkeeper's top corner.

After the timeout, Mengão had another good chance with the same Daniel Rogério, but he couldn't get the final shot. But in the 27th minute, there was no way out. A free kick from Petterson's left wing was headed by midfielder Evertton just inside the box, and defender Cleiton tapped it into the net: 2-1.

With the lead, Flamengo returned for the second half looking to close the gap on the field for their opponents. In the 15th minute, Ryan Luka nearly scored the third, but a deflection from the defense sent the ball crashing against the crossbar.

The intense heat forced coach Mario Jorge to make some crucial substitutions, particularly due to defender Diego's red card after the timeout. But with a lot of grit, the Boys of the Nest managed the result and emerged victorious.

Flamengo turns its attention to the Brazilian Championship, when the team will face Atlético-MG next Friday (7), in Belo Horizonte. For the Guanabara Cup, the team will only play again on April 16, against Madureira, in Gávea.
