Flamengo's under-16 team took to the field on Wednesday afternoon (19), at Clube da Aeronáutica, and beat Boavista 2-0, with goals from Samuel and Jean, in the 8th round of the return leg of the Guilherme Embry Tournament. With the result, coach Leonardo Cherede's team moved closer to the symbolic title of this phase. 

In first place in the competition with 21 points, Fla awaits the result of the game between Piscinão de Ramos and Fluminense, which takes place this Thursday (20), at 15 pm, and ends the round. If the tricolor draws tomorrow, the Garotos do Ninho only need to equal the score against Piscinão itself in the last round to lift the trophy.

If they win the title, the Garotos do Ninho will join Botafogo, the champion of the first stage, and a third team, whichever has the highest total points in both phases, for the final triangular of the tournament.

The teams took to the field sob strong sun and heat this Wednesday afternoonJust 20 seconds into the match, Dedé was one-on-one with the goalkeeper, Bruno got in front of the striker and prevented what could have been a lightning goal for the Boavista team.

The match was very tight in midfield, with Flamengo looking for space, which was filled by the opponent's strong marking. Boavista waited for a mistake in Flamengo's midfield to trigger a counterattack.

In the 29th minute, the Ninho Boys exchanged some good passes at the edge of the box, and the ball eventually reached Samuel, who unleashed a dangerous shot that would have reached goalkeeper Patrick. Late in the first half, the red-and-black number 7 nearly opened the scoring for Mengão, hitting the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the box.

After halftime, the game's landscape remained unchanged. Flamengo tried to gain ground, but Boavista defended well and tried to move at pace. Then, in the 13th minute, Samuel carried the ball through the midfield and tried a long-range shot. The ball found the back of the net, a stunning goal for the number 7. The next minute, Boavista tried to respond with a good shot from the edge of the box. Bruno made a save, and the ball hit the post before being cleared by the defense.

The goal boosted the morale of the Ninho Boys, who regained control of the match. Pedro Arthur could have easily extended the lead on three occasions. On one occasion, Samuel found the number 11 free inside the box, and he fired a weak shot that was easily saved by the opposing goalkeeper. Shortly after, Peçanha shot from outside the box, the goalkeeper palmed it away, and Pedro Arthur headed the ball into an empty net, but the referee stopped the play, signaling offside.   

Sensing that the strong sun was already tiring his players, coach Leonardo Cherede began making changes to the team. Mayquinho, who had just come in, provided the assist for Jean, also coming off the bench, to score. The midfielder sent the free kick to the striker's head, who rose higher than the defense and scored the winning goal.
