Flamengo's youth team secured a great victory in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. Playing away from home, on the synthetic pitch of Nubank Parque, in São Paulo, Flamengo beat the leader Palmeiras 2-1, this Tuesday (14). It was the second consecutive victory for the red-black team, who scored early on (own goal), extended their lead with Daniel Silva, still in the first half, and conceded a goal only at the end of the match, after wasting chances on counter-attacks.

Flamengo started by pressing Palmeiras' defense high up the pitch, and it didn't take long for the tactic to pay off. Under pressure, defender Juan Ramos passed back to goalkeeper Audo, and the ball went under his leg before going into the goal, less than a minute into the match. The opponent responded with a shot from outside the area by Isaac Nicolas, well saved by Gabriel Werneck. Struggling to penetrate the defense, the home team tried many long-range shots.

In search of an equalizer, the São Paulo team attacked down the right flank. The cross came in low, and Flamengo's goalkeeper managed to parry it away in the 19th minute. Palmeiras tried again from distance in the 26th minute, but the ball deflected off the defense and went out of play. From the resulting corner, the header went over the goal. In the 30th minute, Isaac Gomes received a long pass but couldn't get his balance ready for the shot, which went wide to the left of the post.

In a good play down the right flank, Isaac received the ball from right-back Bernardo and was fouled just outside the penalty area. A minute later, at the 39th minute, the Flamengo number 2 delivered a perfect free-kick to Daniel Silva's head, who didn't even need to jump to score the second goal. The opponent tried to reduce the deficit and attacked twice. On the other hand, Flamengo put together some good counter-attacks that were stopped by the opposing defense on the final pass before the shot. Gabriel Werneck made a good save on another long-range shot in the 10th minute. The Flamengo team made another quick transition in the 12th minute and had a great opportunity with João Vitor Couto, who shot wide. At the start of the play, midfielder Niakson was sent off for fouling Rafael Tenório.

The gaps in Palmeiras' defense became even more apparent. Isaac had a good opportunity in a quick play at 17 minutes, but sent the ball wide. After a good exchange of passes, Flamengo came close again, this time with João Vitor Couto, who dribbled and shot to the left of the goalkeeper, hitting the side netting at 36 minutes. Shortly after, João Vitor Couto had another chance, but the opposing goalkeeper came out of his goal and made the save. Four minutes later, Walace Inácio was through on goal and shot against the post. At 44 minutes, João Vitor narrowly missed extending the lead, but the ball went over the crossbar.

Flamengo wasted many counter-attacks, especially towards the end of the match, but they couldn't score and Palmeiras managed to pull one back in the 47th minute with a cross-shot from Caio. Shortly after, the game was ended by the referee.
