U-20 beat Vasco 2-1 in the first game of the OPG Tournament final

In a closely contested game in Gávea, on Wednesday morning (09), Flamengo beat Vasco 2-1 in the first leg of the OPG Tournament final. The goals were scored by Yuri César and Weverton in different stages.

Pressing hard from the start, Vasco opened the scoring after just five minutes. Wendel received a beautiful pass from the defense and passed to Yuri César. The number 10 fired a first-time shot to make it 1-0. Under heavy rain, the team continued to attack and had another opportunity in the 37th minute. Luiz Henrique took a free kick, and Natan headed over. In stoppage time, Vasco capitalized on their only chance and tied the match: 1-1.

In the second half, Flamengo pushed forward and pressed again. In the 12th minute, Matheus França took a dangerous free kick, which went out for a corner. The opposing defense cleared the free kick, and Wendel caught it first time, forcing the goalkeeper to make a great save. After a timeout, Maurício Souza replaced Weverton for Yuri Oliveira and changed the course of the match, which was heading for a draw. The number 25 headed a ball against the post in the 41st minute and, in the 42nd, scored the winning goal after a beautiful play by Yuri César. The goal sealed the victory and secured the advantage for the return match, scheduled for the 20th of this month at São Januário.
