Flamengo defeats São Cristóvão away from home in the debut of the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament
The Under-20 Ninho boys start the competition on the right foot with a good 4-1 victory
By Communication - inOn the sunny afternoon of this Saturday (31), Flamengo visited São Cristóvão and with goals from Alan Santos, Felipe Lima, Carbone and Lucas Barbosa, beat the home team 4-1, in the red-black team's debut match in the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament. This was the first leg of the Second Phase of the competition, which is a knockout stage and takes place in home and away matches. Mengão entered this stage of the championship, while São Cristóvão had to overcome América, in the first phase.
The game started with a lot of study and few chances. The first clear chance fell to the home side in the sixth minute, when São Cristóvão's number 6 came in from the right, but was blocked by the defense.
At 7, Gusttavo crossed and the ball went through the entire area, it was Flamengo's response right after this first promising attack from São Cristóvão.
Flamengo's first big chance came in the 10th minute, after receiving a ball from the defense, Alan Santos shot hard and the opposing goalkeeper saved.
Shortly after, in the 14th minute, after another cross from Gusttavo, Felipe Teresa also had his chance to score, but the ball went wide.
Flamengo managed to impose its game and continued to dominate the action, giving São Cristóvão few opportunities to play.
In the 20th minute, Felipe Lima was released, he passed to Felipe Teresa, who shot and the opposing goalkeeper was almost fooled by the bounce of the ball but saved it in two attempts.
Ten minutes later, from a corner kick, São Cristóvão almost scored. The number 11 took a direct shot and almost scored an Olympic goal, but goalkeeper Caio Barone was alert and sent the ball wide.
Flamengo continued to attack while the São Cristóvão team remained completely in their defensive field, waiting for an opportunity to go on the counterattack, which came in the 48th minute and goalkeeper Caio Barone made another save.
After halftime, just one minute into the match, the home side had their clearest chance. A Flamengo defense blundered, São Cristóvão had two opportunities, one saved by Caio Barone and the second, a shot wide.
Returning with a completely different attitude than in the first half, São Cristóvão continued to attack, and in the sixth minute, they were fortunate enough to have a goal-scoring pile-up that defeated goalkeeper Caio Barone. São Cristóvão's number 6 took a free kick and scored for the home team.
Flamengo didn't let themselves be discouraged and returned to their attacking approach of the first half. In the 12th minute, Alan Santos equalized for Mengão with a powerful shot into the left corner, past the goalkeeper, who had made a good save in the previous play.
In the 28th minute, Mengão turned the game around, from Felipe to Felipe! Our youngsters scored the second goal with Felipe Lima, heading in after receiving a pass, also headed in by defender Felipe Vieira.
In the 35th minute, Flamengo's aerial game once again paid off: Carbone, with a header after a cross from Fred, scored the third for the Garotos do Ninho.
And in the game's injury time, at 49, Lucas Barbosa, who had come on in the second half, scored his, after an assist from Rafael Couto, giving the final score to the match.
The two teams will face each other again next Saturday, June 07th, in Gávea, in the second leg, in which Mengão secured a good advantage.
