Flamengo defeats Vasco and advances to the final of the U-20 Rio Cup

Rubro-Negro scores three goals in Gávea and faces Botafogo in the final

A classic that ended with a remarkable score for the Red-Black Nation. Flamengo and Vasco faced each other in Gávea for the semifinal of the U-20 Rio Cup on Tuesday afternoon (19) and, thanks to goals from Gabriel Ramos, Cafu and Fabricio, the Most Beloved won 3-1. With the result, Rubro-Negro faces Botafogo in the final.

The victory was witnessed by youth players Felipe Vizeu, Thiago Santos and Thiago Ennes, as well as former under-20 coach Zé Ricardo.

The first half was a tight affair, with Vasco creating more chances. From the midpoint of the first half onwards, the match leveled out, and Flamengo gradually began to threaten the opposing goal more and more. Gabriel Ramos opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a header. 

Vasco equalized 11 minutes into the second half, with Paulo Vitor converting a penalty kick. The second goal for Vasco also came from the penalty spot 15 minutes later. Cafu took a skillful shot, sent it into the corner, and made it 2-1. With Flamengo increasingly dominant, the final goal came in the 35th minute. Patrick delivered a beautiful pass to Fabricio, who burst into the box, struck low, and sealed the score.

"We knew how to play our game, what we worked on, and I think we deserved this victory," said coach Gilmar Popoca.
