Flamengo conceded the first goal, managed to turn the game around, but the sixth victory in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship did not come. In a match played at the José Bastos Padilha Stadium, in Gávea, the red-black team drew 2x2 with Atlético-MG, on Tuesday afternoon (22), with goals from Victor Hugo and Rafinha.
Following this result, Rubro-Negro now has 17 points in 11 matches in the Brazilian Under-17 Championship. Their next opponent will be América Mineiro on July 30th at 15 pm at Arena Vera Cruz in Betim, Minas Gerais.
The game
Striker Victor Hugo took the first shot of the match in the fourth minute, without threatening the Minas Gerais team's goal. In the tenth minute, Diego Guimarães crossed twice from the right wing. On the second attempt, Ryan Roberto fired over the crossbar. Atlético opened the scoring from their first corner, after a shot was blocked by Flamengo's defense. Defender Samuel Deus headed in the corner in the 4th minute.
The game was uneventful until the 35th minute, when Flamengo tied the match. Ryan Roberto ran down the left, passed to Lucas Falcone, who fired a powerful shot. The goalkeeper rebounded, and Victor Hugo capitalized to score.
After the break, Flamengo came out swinging and turned the game around within a minute. The play began with a free kick from the right, passed to Ryan Roberto, who crossed after a solo run from the other side. Guilherme Ivo pounced on the loose ball and passed to number 10 Rafinha to break the deadlock.
In the 12th minute, Rafinha quickly ran down the left and passed to Ryan Roberto, who entered the box, but the defender managed to block the shot. Subsequently, Flamengo goalkeeper Eduardo Clasen made two good saves. First from a shot inside the box and, in the next play, from a long-range effort, which he palmed out for a corner.
The Minas Gerais team began to possess the ball more and sought to press, earning three corners in a short period of time. It didn't take long for the red-and-black youth to level the playing field, pushing number 11 Ryan Roberto down the left, but without creating any clear-cut opportunities.
And it was Atlético who came close, hitting the post in the 30th minute. A minute later, another attack, with a shot well saved by Eduardo Clasen. Flamengo's response came quickly: a shot from Kaio Gomes, which the opposing goalkeeper saved. The Minas Gerais team pressed, and Flamengo looked to expand on the counterattack.
After trying so hard, Atlético equalized with Mosquito in the 37th minute. Flamengo narrowly missed out on a third two minutes later, when the ball hit the crossbar after a rebound. In the 42nd minute, Flamengo had another shot on goal. The ball just missed the crossbar.
In a quick counterattack by Flamengo, Eduardo Clasen intercepted a cross and released Kaio Gomes into the attacking half. The number 19 left Enzo Pinheiro in good position, but the opposing goalkeeper came out well. On the next play, a shot grazed Flamengo's left post.
