On Friday night (09.01), Flamengo's under-20 team takes the field for the São Paulo Junior Football Cup, at the Prefeito José Liberatti stadium. The home team, Osasco, will be the Rubro-Negro's opponent, in the match valid for the third and final round of the first phase of the Copinha. The boys only need a draw to guarantee qualification and leadership of Group Q.
Youth coach Zé Ricardo stated that the team is taking a serious approach to advancing to the second round. "There's a remote combination of results that could see us eliminated. Sampaio Corrêa would have to win big to break our eight-goal deficit, and we'd have to lose to Osasco by a much larger margin. But I told the guys that we have to take this very seriously, especially since the knockout stage is starting soon. It's important to get into the swing of things," said the coach, who explained his preparations for the match.

"We showed the players videos of our first two games to demonstrate our progress. We have to think about always improving and continuing to develop so we can fight for a great result later on. In tonight's game, some kids who haven't had the opportunity yet will get on the field and be able to show their work as well. It's a good chance for them and for us to maintain the balance of the group," he analyzed.
