Focus on the OPG Tournament
Despite only one loss in five games, Flamengo's under-20s are eliminated from the Taça BH; next Saturday, the team begins its defense of the state competition title.

Yesterday afternoon (August 23.08), Flamengo's under-20 team concluded its participation in the Taça BH with a 1-1 draw with Londrina. Of the five matches played in the group stage, the Rubro-Negro lost only one, but failed to advance to the next stage. Last year, the Mais Querido was runner-up. The focus now turns to the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament (OPG), a very traditional competition, which is played exclusively between teams from the state of Rio de Janeiro.
In 2012, now under Cleber dos Santos's leadership, the Mais Querido won the Torneiro OPG in memorable fashion. After losing the first leg of the final at Gávea Stadium 2-1 to Botafogo, the red-and-black team traveled to Engenhão Stadium, won the second leg 3-2, and secured the trophy after a tense penalty shootout. The squad included names like Rafinha, Digão, and Samir, who are now professional players.
Flamengo's first challenge in the OPG Tournament will be next Saturday (31.08). The ball will roll in Gávea, at 15 pm, for the clash against Madureira.
