Despite the blank score, the match was quite lively with numerous scoring chances created by both teams. With the result, Rubro-Negro earned its first point in the competition.

The first half began with a tense start, with both teams looking for attacking plays on the flanks. In the 13th minute, São Paulo created a dangerous opportunity, forcing goalkeeper João Fernando to make a great save on a shot by Galeano. Flamengo tried to move the ball around to break through the opposing defense, but found it difficult.
