On Sunday morning (19), Flamengo beat Palmeiras 3-1, in São Paulo, in the second round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. Werton, Zé Welinton and Wesley scored the red-black goals in the match in which Mais Querido dominated from start to finish.

With the result, Flamengo leads group A of the competition, with two wins in two games. The Garotos do Ninho return to the field next Saturday (25), to face Botafogo, in the third round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship.

The Game

The match started evenly, but it was Flamengo who launched more attacks.

The red-and-black attacking momentum paid off. Petterson was brought down inside the penalty area, and the referee awarded a penalty in favor of the Mais Querido. Diego's shot went wide. The Ninho Boys were undeterred. Soon after, Petterson lifted the ball into the box, and Werton appeared to pounce on the opposing goalkeeper's rebound: 1-0 Flamengo.

Flamengo returned for the second half in the same manner they had ended the first: dominating the game and dominating the attacking half.

In the 29th minute, Kayke David received the ball at the edge of the box and was fouled. Zé Welinton skillfully slotted the ball into the top corner to extend Flamengo's lead to 2-0.

In the final stretch of the match, Palmeiras reduced the score to 2-1. But there was still time for Mengão to score one more. After a corner kick, the opposing defense cleared it, Wesley controlled the rebound at the edge of the box and fired a powerful shot into the corner: 3-1 Flamengo. The goal from the Flamengo full-back sealed the match.
