Youth football has Saturday of decisions in Gávea
While the U-15 and U-17 teams play the Rio Cup semifinals, the U-20 team hosts Vasco for the first match of the OPG Tournament final.
By Ian Sena* - inAfter an intense week of hard work at Ninho do Urubu, aiming for the best possible preparation for the tough stages of the competitions they're competing in, Flamengo's youth team will experience a Saturday (October 29.10) of decisive matches at Gávea Stadium. Of the day's three matches, the most important will be the last. The youth team (U-20) returns to the field after defeating Fluminense 4-0 last Sunday in Xerém, and hosts Vasco da Gama at 16 p.m. for the first leg of the Otávio Pinto Guimarães Tournament final. The second and decisive match is scheduled for November 05.11 at 10 a.m. at São Januário.
Before that, to kick off the day's proceedings, the U-15 and U-17 teams face Botafogo at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively, in single matches valid for the semifinals of the Rio Cup, the state championships for each age group. In both matches, Botafogo won the Guanabara Cup and has the advantage of winning the Rio Cup as well, meaning they would be the state champion outright, bypassing the need for two final matches.
The three matches will be open to the public, with entry through the access gate on Rua Ministro Raul Machado.
